Write Club Writes On

Did you know that MMS has its very own junior literary salon (strictly no alcoholic drinks served, however!) on Wednesday afternoons after school in the school library, run by local prize winning, published poet and children’s writer and MMS Poet In Residence, Henry Shires.

Here is the latest news from the Club:

  • In order to continue to include the new Cycle 4 students the Club’s start time is moving to 4.30pm to 5.00pm to allow Cycle 4 students from the other campus to get to the Caulfield campus in time.
  • The finish time will also be a moveable feast, from 5.30pm to 6.00pm to allow for students’ and families’ differing schedules. (The price per week will be increased by $1 to $20 per week to cover this extra 30 minutes facility).
  • However to make it even more affordable than before you can take advantage of the Literary Early Bird offer and make payment before the end of this term, to obtain membership for your child(ren) at a significantly reduced price.
  • Finally, potential new members only can Try Before You Buy by attending in Week 1 of next term for a special price of only $10 (cash), paid on the day (if booked by email in advance only!) before having to make a decision about joining for the rest of the term before Week 2,

You can also see and have posted examples of your or other child(ren)’s work at the new website www.thewriteclub.org (then go to Student’s Work)

Please contact Henry ASAP

Let me take this opportunity to Thank You Henry for the opportunity and honor to have you work with the students at our school as a poet in residence.
You are such and inspiring poet and have encouraged our students write the most beautiful, creative and mature poems. You brought the intrigue of language by allowing the students to write original poetry. You have woven your magic skills and kept the students spellbound when they wrote their odes. You sparked their imaginations and made their words and images come to life. Thanks again. Yasmin (MMS )
